Chapter 3
System Housing
This chapter tells you how to install the basic system components into the system housing.
It gives brief instructions accompanied by mechanical illustrations showing how to
perform each described procedure.
The illustrations in this chapter, except the front panel figure, do not show any installed
components such as disk drives or expansion boards. This chapter describes the
installation of these components.
The system that you receive may have some of these basic components already installed.
In this case, you just have to add other items that you wish to install following the
procedures in this chapter.
Turn off system power and unplug the power cord
and all peripherals before opening the system or
connecting or removing any peripheral device.
Always turn on any external peripheral device
before you turn on the system.
To avoid damaging the system, do not open the
housing for service or upgrades, unless you are a
qualified technician.
Before attempting the procedures described in this chapter, read the ESD precautions and
pre- and post-installation instructions in section 1.5.
