To remove the heatsink fan assembly and CPU
Important:
Before removing a CPU from the mainboard, make
sure to create a backup file of all important data.

Observe the ESD precautions and pre-installation procedures
described on page 35.
Warning! The heatsink becomes very hot when the system
is on. NEVER touch the heatsink with any metal or with
your hands.

Disconnect the CPU fan cable from the connector on the
mainboard.

Disengage the retaining clip from the heatsink base

Release the clips from the tab on the heatsink base
(2)

Pull the heatsink fan assembly away from the CPU
(3)
.

Place the heatsink fan assembly upside down on a flat surface to
prevent thermal grease from contaminating other components.
