5 Functional Description
The functioning FCAW welding torch comprises the following components:
• Torch neck with equipment parts and wear parts
• Handle with or without switchover contact
• Coaxial cable
• Machine connections KZ-2 or LN
For welding, a wire electrode is fed through the welding torch system. The arc and the molten
pool are protected by gases formed by combustion of the additional materials contained in the
flux-cored wire.
The wire electrode is a melting fluxed-core wire fed through the contact tip. The contact tip
transfers the welding current to the wire electrode. The arc is formed between the wire electrode
and the part. In all designs, the torch neck is air-cooled, and the welding torch has the same
design.
The standard torch neck is bent by 65 °. Special models also being available as options. An
aluminum hand shield protects the handle with integrated button. An additional switch can be
mounted laterally. The wire layout can be replaced.
