Industrial Tracker Reference Guide FW 1.8 V0.2
5 GEOLOCATION STRATEGY MODES
5.1 Main operatng modes and SOS mode
The folloting geolocaton technology setng (
geoloc_sensor
parameter)
are used by the operatng
modes: motonitracking, permanentitracking, start/end tracking and SOS. Note that in standby
mode, only side operatons can report positons.
WIFI only
→ Only WIFI scans are used for positon determinaton.
GPS only
→Only the GPS is used for positon determinaton.
LPGPS only
→ GPS and lot poteriGPS are used for positon determinaton.
Mult-technologies modes
o
WIFI-GPS only
→ WIFI then GPS if WIFI fails in one geolocaton cycle.
o
WIFI-LPGPS only
→ WIFI then Lot poteriGPS if WIFI fails in one geolocaton cycle.
o
WIFI + LPGPS + GPS
→ Alternate WIFI, LPGPS and GPS technologies on failure, tith
tmeout.
Superseded by WIFI-LPGPS/ WIFI-GPS
mode.
o
WIFI-LPGPS/ WIFI-GPS
→ WIFIilot poter GPS frst, then WIFIiGPS if WIFIilot
poter GPS fails untl tmeout, then back to WIFIilot poter GPS.
5.2 Side operatons
The folloting geolocaton technology setng (
geoloc_method
parameter) are used for periodici
reportng, onidemand or alert operatons.
WIFI only
→ Only WIFI scans are used for positon determinaton
GPS only
→Only the GPS is used for positon determinaton
LPGPS only
→ GPS and LPGPS are used for positon determinaton
Mult-technologies modes
o
WIFI-GPS only
→ WIFI then GPS if WIFI fails in one geolocaton cycle
o
WIFI-LPGPS only
→ WIFI then lot poteriGPS if WIFI fails in one geolocaton cycle

Positon message scheduling
The positon message reportng frequency is based on the
ul_period
parameter. Hotever, the frst
message can be postponed dues to the positon acquisiton delay.
This delay depends on the geolocaton strategy used.
Nonetheless, the tracker triggers an uplink message each tme a net geolocaton cycle starts. This
message depends on the operatng mode used and the
config_flags
confguraton
Afer the transmission of this inital message, a frst positon is transmited tith the folloting delay:
GPS, or WIFIiGPS: the
gps_timeout
parameter is used. See GPS secton to have details about
the tmeout used)
LPGPS, or WIFIiLPGPS: the
agps_timeout
parameter is used.
WIFI only: the tmeout is fxed to 10 seconds.
