Procedure for bushings with oil valve

Put a container under the oil valve (51) to collect
oil-spills.

CAUTION!

If transformer oil spills, clean the are
immediately. A wet surface is
dangerous and can cause you to fall.

Remove the cover (89).

CAUTION!

Make sure that the oil valve does not
rotate.

NOTE!

Use one wrench to hold the oil valve
(51) while removing the cover (89) with
a second wrench.

Connect the end of a hose to a nipple, and then connect the nipple to the oil valve (51) on the flange.

NOTE!

The thread on the oil valve is (R ¼") BSPT ¼".

Take the oil sample:

Open (b) the oil valve (51).

Drain a small amount of the transformer oil.

Close (a) the oil valve (51).

Install the cover (89).

CAUTION!

Make sure that the oil valve does not
rotate or get overtighten, this can
cause damage to the oil valve.

NOTE!

Use one wrench to hold the oil valve
(51) while tightening the cover (89) with
a second wrench.
