Prevailing standards and directives
For the use of industrial robots, regulations must be fulfilled as described in the
following standards and directives:

EN ISO 10218-1:2011
•
Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
Performance level and category
EN ISO 10218-1 requires structure category 3 and performance level
PL d
on the
robot, see EN ISO 13849-1.
Risk assessment
The results of a risk assessment performed on the robot and its intended application
may determine that a safety-related control system performance other than that
stated in ISO 10218 is warranted for the application.
The SISTEMA/ABB FSDT libraries contains details for the safety functions.
Note
The safety functions are divided into two types called
Basic Safety Functions
and
Extended Safety Functions
. The
Extended Safety Functions
is an option.
