Optical Input
The IPM has one laser beam source or laser head. The input beam corresponds to the output of a
typical diode pumped, Nd/YVO4 laser that has been frequency tripled to a wavelength of 355nm.
The IPM can accept a beam power of up to 2W, with a repetition rate of 67kHz for the laser. The
laser head is kinematically mounted to the optics plate. A safety shutter, controllable by Viper Pro
system electronics, helps to contain the laser beam as closely as possible to the beam’s exit point
from the laser head. The IPM manages any power level changes, including adjusting the power to
zero. The laser is always set for constant power during operation at a maximum of 1000W at the
resin delivery module.
Optical Output
The IPM has two separately controlled image projection systems, or scanners, that can be selected
by use of a two-position mirror mechanism that directs the beam to and from the laser head to the
selected scanner. The minimum power output of the IPM is 1W, with a maximum input of 2W.
The image projection surface, or image plane, for each scanner can be configured to different
sizes, ranging from 650mm x 350mm to 1500mm x 750mm. Table 1 lists the different image
project surface sizes for the resin delivery module:
The projection height can range from 900mm to 1100mm, where the working diameter of the
beam is dynamically adjusted on the image plane. The working diameter of the beam can be
dynamically adjusted on the image plane, ranging from 125ìm to 750ìm, within a maximum time
of 1 sec.
