Installing Instant Update
You may optionally choose to install the 3Com Instant
Update utility. Instant Update periodically checks the 3Com
web site for a new release of the OCR 812 code. When a
new release of the code is found, Instant Update copies it
to your workstation. You then need to install the code onto
your OCR 812 unit.
To Install Instant Update
On the CD, click the button, “Install 3Com Instant
Update”.
Configuring the OfficeConnect Remote 812 Manager
You can configure the OfficeConnect Remote 812
Manager using one of the following methods:
Bridge Only mode
DHCP Smart Mode
Unconfigured mode
Command line interface
Configuring in Bridge Only Mode
If you select Bridge Only Mode as your Boot Option, check
the DIP switch settings on your unit. See DIP Switch
Settings for more information. If your unit’s settings are the
same as the DIP switch settings, you do not need to change
anything. However, if the settings are different and you
need to change them, contact your Internet Service
Provider (ISP) for more information.
Changing the Login Name and Password
If you assign the IP address with DHCP Smart Mode or with
the Remote 812 IP Configuration Wizard, the
administrative login name is
root and the password is
!root .
NOTE : After you access the unit with your web browser,
delete this login profile and create a new one with a secure
name and password. (Maximum character length of login
name = 32, password maximum character length = 15.)
