(VRRP)
The Virtual Routing Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) can prevent a loss of
network operations for end hosts due to the failure of the static default IP
gateway. VRRP accomplishes this by allowing you to designate a number
of other routers as Backup routers in the event that the Master router (the
default router) should fail for any reason.

Before you implement VRRP, be sure that you have a good understanding
of how IP networks function. See Chapter 3 for more information about
IP networks. Also, be sure to read this chapter thoroughly before you set
up VRRP on your network.
