1.2 Features

The following are the essential features of t he Switch.

• Conform s to I EEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3ab and 802.3x standards.

• Auto- negotiating 10/ 100/ 1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ( GbE) RJ- 45 ports.

• Auto- sensing crossover for all 10/ 100/ 1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ( GbE) RJ- 45 port s.

• Supports N-Way protocol for speed ( 10/ 100/ 1000 Mbps) and duplex m ode ( Half/ Full) auto-

detection.

• Support s st ore-and- forward switching.

• Support s aut om at ic address learning.

• Support s I EEE 802.3az EEE

• Support I EEE 802.3af and I EEE 802.3at PoE st andards ( only GS1100- 8HP)

• Full wire speed forwarding rat e.

• Supports 802.1p CoS.

• Em bedded 8K MAC address table providing 8000 MAC addresses entries.

1.3 Applications

This section provides two network topology exam ples in which the Switch is used.

1.3.1 Standalone Workgroup

I n this application, the Switch is an ideal solution for sm all networks where rapid growth can be
expected in the near future.
