At what temperatures may a battery be charged?
A Li ion battery should only be charged in the temperature range from 5°C to max. 45°C. Here again,
the optimum charging temperature is roughly 20°C.
How should my battery be stored?
If you wish to store your battery for a prolonged period, it should be neither fully charged nor fully
discharged. The right charge capacity for this is 40 to 50%.
The battery should generally not be stored at temperatures below 0°C. Better here is a storage tem-
perature of 5 to 10°C. Due to the self-discharge, a stored battery should be charged for 1 to 2 hours
every three months.
Should I leave the battery on the bike during prolonged storage?
No. A small current flows even when the controller is not switched on. You should remove the bat-
tery from the bike to prevent a deep discharge.
What does self-discharge mean?
Due to chemical and physico-chemical processes in the battery, a self-discharge of 3 to 5% per month
is possible. This effect becomes more pronounced if the battery is stored at more than 15°C.
What does deep discharge mean?
Deep discharge means the discharge of a battery down to a voltage of 0V. This can lead to the bat-
tery becoming unusable because it can no longer be charged. That is why a battery should be re-
charged below a charge capacity of 15%.
What is the service life of my battery?
A Li ion battery can be charged up to 1000 times. This value is only achieved, however, with opera-
tion under optimum conditions and constant and proper care of your battery. Any deviation from the
optimum conditions shortens the service life of your battery.
Furthermore, the battery should not be recharged at every opportunity. It is better for the battery
for it to be discharged down to a residual capacity of approx. 15 to 20% and then to be recharged.
Can I generally allow my battery to charge over night?
Your charger has an automatic cut-out function as soon as the battery is fully charged. Nevertheless,
low residual currents still flow. It is naturally best to remove the battery from the charger as soon as
it is fully charged.

Riding your bike
Always wear a bicycle helmet that meets the latest certification standards when riding. Follow the
manufacturer's instructions in the respective manual for adjustment, use and care of the helmet. A
large proportion of serious injuries caused by cycling are head injuries that could have been avoided
with a helmet.
In order to be allowed to safely participate in public road traffic with your bike, your bike has to be
equipped with the following according to the road traffic licensing regulations:
-
A bell
-
Two independent brakes
-
A white reflector at the front
-
A large red reflector at the rear
