This furnace contains fragments of ceramic fibres
(RCF) and crystalline silicon in the insulation of its
heating muffle, which could get into the lungs.
These materials may be in the form of fibre boards,
vacuum-formed boards, mineral wool pads or loose
filling fibres.
■
No significant quantities of dust particles from-
these materials get into the air during furnace
operation. Should it be necessaryto replace the
heating elements or insulation, the person carrying
out this work will be exposed to much higher-
quantities/values.
■ Although there is no evidence of risks with regard
to long-term damage to health, we expressly
recommend that safety precautions be taken
when repair personnel handle these materials.
■ There is a risk of respiratory diseases for persons
directly exposed to the fibre dust treated at high
temperatures. A filtered respirator, safety goggles,
gloves and long-sleeved clothing should always
be worn when handling fibres.
■ Avoid the breakage of waste material. Dispose
of the fibre waste in sealed containers.
■
After direct contact with the skin, rinse with
water before carefully washing with soap (do
not use cleaning agents). Work clothes must be
washed separately.
■ Safety data sheets can be provided for the RCF
materials on request.
