calls, be sure you have selected this option in your
software.
Problem:
You encounter other communication problems with
your ISDN cards.
Solution:
Check that your communications software has been set
up properly. Recheck the initialization string and dial
string specified in your software manual. Remember
that commands in the initialization string are sent to
the ISDN card each time you start your software and
override the settings stored in the ISDN card’s
nonvolatile memory.
For the TA/V.343 only
: On IBM PC-compatible
computers memory-resident (TSR) programs can cause
a variety of problems for some fax software programs.
Try starting up your computer without them. Examples
of TSRs include anti-virus programs, screen savers,
and data protection software.
ISDN Line Connections
Problem:
The modem or terminal adapter will not complete a
call over the ISDN line.
Solution:
Make sure the ISDN line is plugged into both the
ISDN jack on the TA/V.34 or TA and in the wall.
Make sure you haven’t accidentally swapped the ISDN
line with a standard phone line. Remove and re-seat
the ISDN line at both ends. Make sure the plugs click
into place.
Try different types of ISDN calls to different numbers.
Try using the handset, sending faxes, making a data
connection using the ISDN card over ISDN, and
making ISDN data connections.
Problem:
The ISDN card will not make calls over the ISDN
line.
Solution:
There may be a problem with the settings of your
Directory Numbers (DN) and SubAddresses. Double-
check that you have entered the DNs and
SubAddresses correctly. If you are using sub-
addressing, make sure
*S1
is also set.
