6.1.2. Electronic description of the Vaco device
The Vaco device contains a separate power supply and power switch. The mains switch is designed for the
mains voltages 115V and 230VAC. 2x mains fuses 0,25AT (230-240V device) or 0,4A (100-120V device)
are integrated in the mains socket to monitor both mains cables and it provides a 2-way shutdown. The
supply voltage is distributed by cable to the main board, where the line filter is located. The low voltage on
the main board is supplied by a transformer. It has 2x 115V primary inputs, which can be switched between
115V or 230V by setting a jumpers. The transformer generates 12V at secondary side to operate the pump.
A DC-DC Converter generates the necessary switching supply of the relays, pressure sensor, valve and
the voltage to operate the logical components as well.
The Vaco as a slave device can only be operated by the Soleo
line
.
All device functions, regulation and monitoring are controlled directly by the soleo
line
microprocessor
.
The communication between the devices is realized by an optical serial interface (IR-Interface).
In addition the internal processes of the components are supervised by the µC in the Vaco device. In case
a malfunction or excess a limit value of one of the critical components the therapy will be stopped
independent of the Soleo device. Figure 5 shows the layout of the main board
