Introduction

Dear Customer,

in order to prevent any errors and possible accidents when handling the device, it is
strictly necessary to

thoroughly

read these operating instructions before

commissioning.

The dosing unit PKT 270 W primarily serves for the dosing of propionic acid which is
marketed, e.g. under the brand names Luprosil



, Lupro-Grain



and Luprosil NC



provided by the BASF AG Ludwigshafen.

Please note that the measuring tube is calibrated to Luprosil



or similar media.

For Lupro-Grain



and Luprosil NC



, the displayed value at the flow

measuring tube is not identical with the displayed quantity, as these are
subject to a media-temperature dependent viscosity (see Section 7 f ).

The deployment of any mordant is principally prohibited.

The device can also be deployed for pest control against beetle infestation (corn
weevils), in so far as these liquids do not contain any adhesive agents.

2.

Prevention of Accidents and Damage

Luprosil



is an organic acid that has an etching effect to the skin and the mucous

membranes in undiluted form. When handling this product, it is therefore necessary
to undertake the same precautions as for strong acids. It is strictly required to wear
protective glasses and rubber gloves. In the vent of skin contact with Luprosil



,

immediately thoroughly rinse it off with water. The same even more applies to formic
acid which is significantly more aggressive and can cause painful etchings.

Particular care must be taken when handling the spray cans. The careless handling
of the pressure hoses can lead to skin or eye contact with the acid.
For this reason also, always take care that the nozzles are securely attached to the
snail so that they can not loosen by themselves.

In the event of eye or skin contact with Luprosil



(or formic acid) immediately

thoroughly rinse with water. Should the eyes be injured, immediately consult a
doctor!

When handling grain in closed rooms, respectively during the heaping up in
granaries, barn floors or into silos, the strong odor of Luprosils



may possibly irritate

the workers working in the vicinity of the agent. For this reason, it is necessary to
ensure for sufficient ventilation for the storage rooms. The irritation due to the odor
will, for the most part, disappear within a few minutes after the Luprosil



treatment is

concluded.

The temperatures of the stored grain batches must be monitored.
