SUMMARY OF OPTIONS
This section lists the different options that are available in the various menus.
8.1 The Encoder Settings Tab
Parameter
Options (default in bold)
Notes
Video Source
HDMI
, Component, SDI
Where to get input for the video.
Audio Source
Automatic,
Analog Jacks
“Automatic” will base the audio source on the
video source (video = Component -> Audio source =
Analog).
Audio Codec
AAC-LC ADTS
, None
The codec to use for audio.
Audio Bitrate
96, 128,
192
(Kbps)
The bitrate for the audio.
Video Resolution
320x180 –
1920x1080
The input resolution [
Note 1
].
De-interlace
On /
Off
Causes the de-interlacer to be activated (can also
simply select “de-interlacer” for resolution.
Rate Control
VBR
/ CBR
If CBR=1, the encoder will drop frames to maintain
bitrate if difficult content is encountered.
Video Bitrate
100 – 12000K (
8000K
)
The target bit rate for the video stream.
Video Profile
High
, Main, Baseline
The H264 profile of the bitstream. Generally High
is used for 1080p, Main for D1, and Baseline for <
D1.
Frame Rate
1 -
60
The target frame rate. “30” can be used for 30 or
29.997. If the frame rate is set to 30 and the input
signal is actually 29.997, the Z3-MVE-100 will
automatically detect this and use the frame rate of
29.997. A similar autodetect occurs for 60 and
59.994.
GOP Size
10 – 240 frames (
60
)
I-frame frequency [
Note 2
].
Video Burst Size
150 – 2000ms (
1000
)
# of ms to buffer. The higher the value, the
smoother the encode, but also the higher the
latency.
Video Codec
H.264
Only H.264 is supported in this release.
B-Frame GOP
Structure
open [IBB]
closed [BBI]
An open structure means a B-frame can refer to an
I-frame in the preceding GOP. “Closed” means all
B-frames in a GOP can only refer to I and P-frames
within the GOP. Using “open” will lead to slightly
better compression. “Closed” is useful when you
know you plan to put chapter markers in the
content (the DVD standard requires that any GOP
used as a chapter marker must be a closed GOP).
The default is “Open.”
B-frame Interval
1
– 3 (
3
)
# of B-frames between P-frames minus 1. Setting
“1” means no B-frames. Setting “3” means 2 B-
frames between every P-frame.
