(7)
Type “F” and <return> twice to set the file format to MP4 format.
-MP4 is the best file format to use if playback on the PC is also desired
.
(8)
Plug a USB drive or an SD card to the Z3-DM368-VI-RPS.
(9)
Type “1” and <return> to encode 30 seconds to MP4.
-If you get the error “Capture_get: Assertion ‘hCapture failed”, that indicates that the source is
not plugged into the Z3-DM368-VI-RPS. If you are encoding D1, make sure composite is
connected. If you are encoding any other resolution besides D1, make sure component is
connected.
-If you get the error “CMEM Error: getPool: Failed to get a pool fitting a size ___”, that
indicates that the source is coming in at a different resolution from what was specified. For
example, the input source is 1080 but an encoding resolution of 720p is specified.
-If you get the message “Waiting for SD Card or Stick”, you need to connect an SD card or USB
drive to the Z3-DM368-VI-RPS. Once you do this, after a couple of seconds encode will start.
(10)
Make sure SDI output is connected (see Figure 15).
(11)
After encode finishes, type “5” and <return>. You should see the recorded content playing
back on the screen.
-You can use the “H” key to rewind 30 seconds and the “L” key to fast forward 30 seconds.
Since this specific run was for only 30 seconds, this won’t have an effect – this can be used for
longer encodes.
(12)
Type “Ctl-C” to exit playback mode. This will bring you back to the File Read/Write menu.
(13)
Type “13” and <return> to unmount the USB drive.
(14)
Remove the USB drive and connect to your PC.
(15)
Open VLC and play the file “Z3_enc_H264_AAC_720P.MP4” (name will vary based on the
encoded resolution). You should now be able to see the recorded contents playing on your PC.
