Find a large fl at open area and connect the 

10’ [305 cm] chain sections. Use connecting 

links and cotter pins. See examples at right. 

Bolt the UHMW paddles to the chain. Use 

5/16” or 3/8” diameter x 1 1/2” bin bolts, 

fl at washers and fl ange nuts on steel bushed 

roller chain. (Exception: Use 3/8” x 2” paddle 

bolts for some large conveyor models.) Torque 

5/16” nuts at 27 ft-lb [37 N•m or 3.7 kgf-m]. 

Torque 3/8” nuts at 48 ft-lb [65 N•m 6.6 kgf-m].

NOTE: Use only 5/16” or 3/8” x 1 1/2” bin bolts as 

paddle bolts. Exception: Some larger models may use 

3/8” x 2” paddle bolts.
