4.3 Routine Maintenance
To use this instrument for as long as possible and to prevent problems or malfunctions, routine
maintenance is necessary.
CAUTION
• Turn the instrument off before starting maintenance. Otherwise, you may damage the
instrument.
• Do not use chemicals such as thinner, benzene, or alcohol. Doing so may cause
discoloration and deformation.
• Using dirty cleaners can damage the optical input.
• Using dirty cotton swabs can damage the optical input.
• When you attach or detach the connector adapter, be sure not to damage the ferrule end
face or the connector adapter.

Cleaning the Instrument Exterior
When you clean the case or the operation panel, first remove the power cord from the outlet, and then
wipe with a dry, soft, clean cloth.
Cleaning the Optical Connector of the Connector Adapter
We recommend that you use a stick-type cleaner to clean the optical connector of the connector
adapter.

Open the optical connector cover, which is on the front panel of the
instrument
.

Clean the optical connector with a cleaner.
Insert the cleaner straight into the optical connector and turn it to clean.
When you do this, hold the support area of the cleaner as much as possible.
