1.1 Panels
Front Panel
RANGE dial
Switches the voltage, current,
resistance, and temperature
ranges.

When SETUP is selected, a
SETUP menu appears.

9.3, 13.5, 13.7 to 13.9
Output setting display
Displays the value set with the output setting dials. 5.5-digit
7-segment LEDs are used.

While in the SETUP menu, these display the menus at different
hierarchical levels. At levels where a value is set or displayed,
these display the value.

Polarity display
Displays the polarity set with the
POLARITY switch

POLARITY switch
Flip the lever up or down to set the
polarity.

While in the SETUP menu, this
confirms or cancels the setting.

Output setting dials
Used to set the value of the digit immediately above each dial.
Carrying over and borrowing occur automatically within the
selectable range. From the left, the dials are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd,
4th, and 5th dials. The 1st dial is used also to set the most
significant digit (the next left digit) to 1.

Power switch
Turns the power on and off

TEMPERATURE dial
Switches the thermocouple
or RTD type and the RJC
mode.

RJC indicators
Indicates the current RJC mode.

REMOTE indicator
Illuminates when the 2553A is in
remote mode (controlled through
communications)

ON indicator
Illuminates when voltage,
current, resistance, or tempera-
ture (thermocouple or RTD) is
being generated

OFF indicator
Illuminates when nothing is being
generated

OUTPUT switch
Flip the lever up to turn the output
on. Flip down to turn it off.

Flipping this lever down in remote
mode causes the 2553A to switch
to local mode.

Output terminals
Connect measurement leads to these terminals.

When the polarity is set to positive, the red
terminal is positive. When the polarity is set to
negative, the red terminal is negative.
Bottom legs
