6.1.12 Each engine which is tested and run-in should have the control chart where the accepted
test results are recorded.
6.2 Engine preparation for the starting-up
6.2.1 One should begin the running-up and testing having checked the operability of the
engine, availability of the fuel, coolant and oil in the corresponding systems.
6.2.2 To check and if necessary to adjust the clearances in the valve mechanism. Clearance
between the toe of the rocker and face of the valve (heat clearance) at the cold engine should be
within the range 0.25-0.3 mm.
6.3 Starting-up and operation of the engine
6.3.1 Each engine should have technological running-in according to the modes specified in
this instruction.
6.3.2 Permissible deviation during the engine running-in:
- rotation rate ±20 min
-1
; - power output ±1.5 kW (±2 H.P.).
6.3.3 In the beginning of the engine running-in to check the oil feed to the bearings of the
rockers through the push rods and sealing of the nozzle in the cylinder heads.
6.3.4 To check the sealing of the joints in the engine feed system after the starting-up of
the engine.
6.3.5 Coolant temperature discharging from the engine should be within the range 75-90ºC. In
the beginning of the cold running-in coolant temperature should be no less than 50°C above zero.
6.3.6 Oil pressure in the passage at the oil temperature 80-100ºC should be within 400-700
kPa (4-7 kfg/cm
2
) at the nominal rotation rate and no less than 100 kPa (1kfg/cm
2
) at the nominal
idle rotation rate. In the beginning of the cold running-in oil temperature should be no less than
60°C.
6.3.7 Oil throwing and leakage of oil, fuel and coolant as well as exhaust gas leakage through
the flange joints are not permitted.
6.3.8 The following signs are not rejection signs:
- sweat production in the joints of the fuel feeding, lubrication and cooling systems, creation of
oil spots in the collar sealing without tip leakage at any operational mode;
Sweat production is defined during the control acceptance with the help of filter paper FOS
according to the GOST 12026-76. Applying the end of the filtering paper to the place of sweat
production spot spreading at the following length is allowed: for oil - no more than 5 mm, for fuel -
no more than 15 mm, for fuel and oil mixture - no more than 10 mm;
- oil and condensate separation through the discharge pipe of the housing system,
