2.5.4 It is recommended not to disassemble completely the separate nodes and units
(starter, generator, fan with built-in clutch, nozzles) because there is no proper technical equipment,
facilities, documents, qualified workers, as well as abilities to provide the proper quality level of
the newly assembled unit at the repair plant.
2.5.5 To provide the labour safety to the workers while the engine disassembling means of
individual protection should be used: glasses, gloves. Removing from the engine the details or
assembly units which weight is more than 20 kg one should use the weight-lifting equipment, load-
bearing equipment (hanger rods).
2.5.6 While disassembling removed details should be stored in the tare, on the platforms
considering the grouping according to the grouping of the single nomenclature (it is allowed to
store the fasteners details in the separate plastic bags, each nomenclature in one bag).
2.5.7 The couples of details which can be installed at the engine only as a kit
should not be pooled while disassembling:
- crankshaft bearings caps and cylinders cast in blocks;
- connecting rods with the covers.
2.5.8. Removing the details of the fuel and oil systems of the engine, openings of the
turbocharger should be closed with the closing plugs to avoid dirt accumulation.
2.5.9 Plugs should be installed while the removing of the fuel lines.
2.6 General technical requirements for the cleaning, washing of the components and
units of the engine
2.6.1
Being disassembled all assembly units and details, except
those details which should
be replaced regardless of their technical condition, should be cleaned from the operational pollution
(oil, mud and carbonaceous sediments, soot deposits, scale crust, products of the corrosion, old paint),
washed and dried.
2.6.2
Cleaning and washing include a range of multi-stage operations of the cleaning
and washing the repair objects, which improve the repair quality, operational time of the
repaired details, provision of the sanitary and hygienic working conditions for the disassemblers
and their labour productivity.
Only by increasing quality of cleaning and washing one can
increase the operational time of the repaired engines for 25-30% and increase the labour
productivity for 15-20%. The following stages of cleaning and washing should be stipulated
during the engine repair:
- External washing of pre-disassembled engine (without electrical equipment);
- Washing of the nodes and components;
- Washing and cleaning of the details;
