TROUBLESHOOTING (YUM2E)
GENERAL INFORMATION
TIP
The following guide for troubleshooting does not
cover all the possible causes of trouble. It should
be helpful, however, as a guide to basic trouble-
shooting. Refer to the relative procedure in this
manual for checks, adjustments, and replace-
ment of parts.
POOR PERFORMANCE
Traction motor
1. Traction motor
• Out of round armature
• Broken or shorted armature coil
Electrical system
1. Battery
• Discharged battery
• Faulty battery
2. Fuse(s)
• Blown, damaged or incorrect fuse
• Improperly installed fuse
3. Switches and wiring
• Faulty main switch
• Broken or shorted wiring
• Faulty shift switch
• Faulty tow switch
• Improperly grounded circuit
• Loose connections
4. Motor control system
• Faulty MCU
• Faulty main relay
POOR BRAKING PERFORMANCE
• Worn brake shoe
• Worn or rusty brake drum
• Incorrect brake pedal free play
• Incorrect brake shoe adjuster position
• Incorrect brake shoe position
• Damaged or fatigued brake shoe spring
• Oil or grease on the brake shoe
• Oil or grease on the brake drum
FAULTY SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY
Malfunction
• Fatigued or damaged shock absorber spring
• Bent or damaged damper rod
• Leaking oil
UNSTABLE HANDLING
1. Steering wheel
• Bent or improperly installed steering wheel
2. Steering components
• Incorrect toe-in
• Bent steering shaft
• Improperly installed steering shaft
• Damaged bearing
• Bent tie-rods
• Deformed steering knuckles
3. Shock absorber assembly(-ies)
• Faulty shock absorber spring
• Leaking oil
4. Tire(s)
• Uneven tire pressures (left and right)
• Incorrect tire pressure
• Uneven tire wear
5. Wheel(s)
• Damaged wheel bearing
• Bent or loose wheel axle
• Excessive wheel runout
6. Frame
• Bent frame
• Damaged frame
FAULTY LIGHTING SYSTEM
Headlight does not come on
• Faulty headlight
• Too many electrical accessories
• Hard charging
• Incorrect connection
• Improperly grounded circuit
• Poor contacts (light switch)
RESETTING MOTOR CONTROL UNIT (MCU)
(YUM2E)
Before performing any tests in this section, it is
advisable to reset the motor control unit and
again verify the problem still exists.
1. Turn the main switch “OFF”.
2. Move tow switch to the “TOW” position.
3. Wait 30 seconds and turn the main switch
“ON”.
4. Turn tow switch to the “RUN” position.
If this procedure corrects the problem, there are
two potential causes for this condition:
a. The user operated the tow switch without
allowing the system to reset.
