Menu
Function
LANGUAGE
Sets the language for the OSD menu and messages. Select a setting from English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and
Simplified Chinese. Simplified Chinese is available only for General model. This setting also changes the language for
audio. If the selected language is not available on the DVD, one of the actual recorded language is automatically selected.
SUBTITLE
Sets the language for subtitle. Select a setting from off, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, etc. If the selected
language is not available on the DVD, one of the actual recorded language is automatically selected.
TV TYPE
Sets the screen aspect of your TV. Select a setting from “4:3 PS” (4:3 Pan&Scan), “4:3 LB” (4:3 Letter Box) and “16:9”.
TV SYSTEM
Sets the video signal system of your TV to “PAL”, “NTSC” or “AUTO”.
When using a TV compatible with both NTSC and PAL, set this to “AUTO”.

You can change the video signal system by pressing
GUI
when the OSD menu is displayed.
• If you play a PAL-formatted disc with the “NTSC” setting or an NTSC-formatted disc with the “PAL” setting, the
video quality may deteriorate.
• Depending on the video format, the “AUTO” setting may not work properly. In this case, try the “NTSC” or “PAL” setting.
PARENTAL
LOCK
Sets the restriction level for the DVD playback.
Some DVD discs contain a restriction level which enables parents to remove scenes or prevent playback of discs by
children. You can change a password to prevent children from changing a level.
<PASSWORD>
Use the number buttons to change the “PARENTAL LOCK” settings.
The default password is set to “1234”.
<RATING>
UNLOCK: “PARENTAL LOCK” is disabled.
LEVEL 1 to 7: The lower the level, the stricter the restrictions.
ADULT: Select this when you want to play all DVDs.
<CHANGE PASSWORD>
Enter a new password in both the “NEW PASSWORD” field and the “CONFIRM PASSWORD” field.
DOWN
SAMPLING
Sets the LPCM 48 kHz down sampling to “OFF” or “ON”.
OFF: The audio signal output from the DIGITAL OPTICAL OUT jack is not down sampled.
ON: The audio signal output from the DIGITAL OPTICAL OUT jack is down sampled to LPCM 48 kHz.
DIGITAL
OUTPUT
Sets the output signal of the DIGITAL OPTICAL OUT jack to “RAW” or “PCM”.
RAW: Outputs all types of digital signal that the DVD receiver can produce.
PCM: Converts the signal (except for DTS sources) to PCM before outputting it.
Signals are not output from the speakers or AUX OUT jacks during playback of DTS sources.
P-SCAN
Sets the output signal of the VIDEO OUT COMPONENT jacks.
OFF: Interlace signals are output from the VIDEO OUT COMPONENT jacks.
ON: Progressive signals are output from the VIDEO OUT COMPONENT jacks.

You can turn on or off the Progressive Scan mode by pressing
ZOOM
when the OSD menu is displayed.
SCREEN
SAVER
Sets the screen saver function (page 22).
ON: The screen saver works.
OFF: The screen saver does not work.
TV INPUT
(U.K and Europe models only)
Switches the input signals when the input source is set to TV between signals input at the TV IN jacks and signals
input at AV terminal.
NORMAL RCA: Signals input at the TV IN jacks are reproduced.
SCART: Signals input at the AV terminal are reproduced.
