Checking the throttle cable and shift
rod
1. Check the throttle cable and shift rod for
smooth operation.
2. Check the inner wire and outer wire of
the throttle cable. Replace if the outer
wire is bent or damaged, or the rubber
seals are damaged.
Assembling the tiller handle
1. Install the throttle shaft

into the tiller
handle

so that the pin

of the throttle
shaft
1
is aligned with the mating sur-
face

of the tiller handle

in horizontal
position.
2. Insert the throttle cable

into the gear
5
until the inner cable
b
is winded with
the gear. Then fully pull the outer cable
c
toward the cable end of the outboard
motor side.
3. Turn the throttle shaft

clockwise to
wind the inner cable until the outer cable
c
comes in contact with tiller handle.
4. Tighten the outer cable
c
and locknut
