Checking the gear pump

Check the gear pump assembly for dam-
age or excessive wear. Replace if neces-
sary.

Assembling the pump housing

Install the new O-ring

, up-relief valve

seat

, ball (3.18 mm [0.125 in])

absorber valve pin

, and spring

into

the pump housing.

Install the new O-rings

onto the main

valves

Install the main valves

and pump

gears

into the pump housing.

Install the balls (3.18 mm [0.125 in])

shuttle pistons

, and balls (4.76 mm

[0.187 in])

into the gear pump.

CAUTION:

Install all components in their original
direction and position for proper assem-
bly and operation.

NOTE:

Apply grease to the balls and shuttle pistons
to prevent them from falling out of the gear
pump.

Install the gear pump

to the pump

housing, and then tighten the bolts

the specified torque.

NOTE:

Tighten the bolts evenly and make sure that
the pump gears turn smoothly.
