Check the outer surface of the tilt piston
and free piston for scratches. Replace if
necessary.

Check the tilt ram for bends or excessive
corrosion. Polish with #400–600 grit
sandpaper if there is light rust or replace
if necessary.

Assembling the trim cylinder

Install the new dust seal

into the tilt

cylinder end screw

Install the O-ring

onto the end screw.

Install the tilt ram

into the end screw.

Install the backup ring

and O-rings

and

into the trim cylinder end screw

Install the trim cylinder end screw onto
the tilt ram.

Install O-rings

and

, and backup ring

onto the trim piston

Install the balls

, absorber valve pins

and springs

into the trim piston, and

then install the plate

and trim piston to

the trim cylinder
