Measuring steps:

Make sure that the “Y” mark
a
on the
connecting rod faces towards the fly-
wheel magneto.

Align the marks
b
(machining face)
when assembling the connecting rod
halves.

Do not assemble cylinder #1’s connect-
ing rod with cylinder #2’s cap, and vice
versa.
8
Clean the bearing portions of the
connecting rod.
8
Install the connecting rod onto the
crankshaft.
8
Put a piece of Plastigauge ® onto the
crank pin.
8
Assemble the connecting rod halves
onto the crank pin.
NOTE:
Do not move the crankshaft until the
big-end oil clearance measurement has
been completed.
8
Tighten the bolts in the proper
sequence and in two stages.
8
Remove the connecting rod cap.
8
Measure the width of the com-
pressed Plastigauge
® on each crank
pin.
Bolt:
1st: 10 Nm
(1.0 m•kg, 7.2ft•lb)
2nd: 22 Nm
(2.2 m•kg, 16 ft•lb)
