Summary of Internet-Related Commands
The following commands enable you to assign and view the values for Internet addressing that the
terminal server will use.
SHOW/LIST/MONITOR SERVER INTERNET CHARACTERISTICS - This command
displays the current settings for the internet-address, and related internet-address and
domain-name resolution characteristics.
Example:
Xyplex>> SHOW SERVER INTERNET CHARACTERISTICS
DEFINE/SET SERVER - These commands alter the settings for the internet-address, and
related internet-address and domain-name resolution characteristics. Use DEFINE
commands to change parameters in the permanent database and SET commands to change
parameters in the operational database. Alternatively, you can use only the DEFINE
command and re-initialize the terminal server.
Specifies the Internet address for this terminal server. An
internet-address consists of four numbers separated by
periods (.). Valid values for each of the four numbers are
whole numbers in the range of 1 through 254 (the numbers 0
and 255 are permitted in some circumstances). An
example of an internet-address is: 128.10.2.30. Default:
0.0.0.0. You cannot change this parameter while there are
any active Telnet sessions on this terminal server.
INTERNET ADDRESS
Example:
Xyplex>> DEFINE SERVER INTERNET ADDRESS 128.3.0.100
Specifies the Internet address that is used in Internet
Broadcast messages. Some applications can send a message
requesting information to all nodes on an Internet network.
The server uses the broadcast address to determine whether
or not it should respond to such a message. You cannot
change this parameter while there are active Telnet sessions
on this terminal server. Default: 255.255.255.255.
