5.3 ROM RESIDENT SETUP ROUTINE
SETUP is a program which resides in the ROM BIOS Plus EPROMS on the XVME-682 CPU
module. It is used to write configuration information into battery-backed memory.
SETUP stores the following information in CMOS:
• Date and Time
• Diskette and Hard disk types
• Keyboard options (installed or not installed)
• Monitor type
• Processor speed
• Math coprocessor option (not accessible)
• Base memory size
• Extended memory size
5.3.1 When to Use SETUP
SETUP must be run by the user when:
• installing the system for the first time
• changing drives or monitor type
• changing system features (i.e. CPU speed)
• replacing the battery
5.3.2 Invoking the SETUP Routine
To invoke the ROM resident SETUP routine on the XVME-682 simply depress the "CTRL",
"ALT", and "S" keys simultaneously on a PC/AT keyboard.
You may scroll through the available SETUP options by using the up-arrow and down-arrow
keys on the PC/AT keyboard. Selections can be modified by manip-ulating the right-arrow
and left-arrow keys. Memory size parameters are entered via the number keypad.
