3.3 Target Gas Selection (flammable catalytic versions
only)
The target flammable (combustible) gas of the VESDA Sensepoint XCL can be changed using the Sensepoint
App where the user can select from a range of flammable gases. Refer to the Sensepoint App User Manual
Doc. No. 35245 for full details on how to do this.
Note: Before changing the target gas a zero calibration should be performed in clean air.
The VESDA Sensepoint XCL gas detector operates on a Star Rating system where gases are grouped
depending on the response of the sensor to them. The higher the star rating, the more responsive the sensor is
to the gas. The table below shows the Star Ratings for a range of gases.

For maximum accuracy, the VESDA Sensepoint XCL catalytic sensor should be calibrated using a known
calibration gas (with an air balance) equal to 50% of the actual target gas intended to be monitored.
