P100_B
SFP cage, connected to FPGA fabric and GTX pins. Used for White
Rabbit Ethernet I/O. Use of White Rabbit approved fiber is
recommended for best time synchronization, but not essential
P100_C
SFP cage, connected to FPGA fabric and GTX pins. Currently unused
J1
RJ-45 Ethernet connector with LEDs. Used for default 10/100/1000M
Ethernet connection to ARM/Linux
J618
RJ-45 Ethernet connector Used for alternate 10/100M Ethernet
connection to ARM/Linux with PTP hardware timestamping
J141
USB/UART connection to ARM/Linux. LED indicates connection status
J142
SD card slot. Tested with up to 16 GB.
Used to boot PicoZed and acts as Linux’ “hard drive”
J143
USB type A for peripherals. Currently unused.
10.2.2 MMCX Connectors for Clocks and Triggers
J804
Clock input. 3.3V TTL
J802
Clock output. 3.3V TTL. Output signal can be chosen by jumper and
configured in FPGA, for example a White Rabbit related clock
J803
Trigger output. 3.3V TTL. Output signal can be chosen by jumper and
configured in FPGA, e.g. as White Rabbit PPS signal
J400
Sync input. 3.3V TTL, 5V compatible
J401
Veto input. 3.3V TTL, 5V compatible
J800
General purpose output GP1. 3.3V TTL
J801
General purpose output GP2. 3.3V TTL
10.2.3 PMOD and HDMI Connectors for GPIO
Figure 10-2: Pinout of PMOD connectors; here: J101. Signal lines are routed as differential lines,
but by default are used as single ended 3.3V TTL signals.
The PZ-TIO implements 3 PMOD-style I/O connectors. All signal I/O pins connect to the
PicoZed FPGA pins, without buffers or overvoltage protection. Signal lines are routed as
differential lines, but by default are used as single ended 3.3V TTL signals. JA140 is a 12-
pin receptacle placed on the board edge. (Only 4 I/O pins are currently functional). J101
and J102 are not stuffed by default; they can be stuffed with right angle headers to bring
signals to the board edge (some further shrouding and/or a front panel would be desirable),
can be stuffed with vertical receptacles, or can be used as test points for probing.
