Loading Paper in the Trays 1 - 4
When loading paper longer than 14" (279.4 mm) such as B4, A3, and 11 x 17" in the tray 1,
2, 3 or 4, you must extend the tray. When the tray is extended, the extended portion sticks
out from the back of the printer.
A5, B5, A4, and 8.5 x 11" size paper cannot be loaded in landscape orientation when a tray
is extended. When loading A5, B5, A4, or 8.5 x 11" size paper in landscape orientation,
unextend the tray by pushing the extended portion back into the tray.
For instructions on how to extend or unextend a tray, refer to Steps 2 and 3 in the following
procedure.
If you do not need to extend or unextend a tray, skip Steps 2 and 3.
The following explains how to load paper in the tray 1. The procedure is the same also for
the trays 2, 3, and 4.
Important
• Do not remove or add paper to the paper trays during printing. Doing so can cause paper jams.
• Make sure to load paper when the power is on.
1.
Pull out the tray until it stops. Hold the tray
with both hands, lift it up slightly, and then
pull it out completely.
2.
If you do not need to extend the tray,
proceed to Step 4.
If you need to extend the tray, release the
extension lock by sliding the left and right
tabs in the tray outward.
