External triggers are always synchronized to the detector control electronics. This
synchronization may cause some delay and jitter. The diagram shows an external trigger
sensitive at the rising edge and the internal synchronized signal.
External triggers can be delayed in time with the
Delay
setting, expressed in µs. During the
delay period, no new triggers can be accepted.
A trigger
Skip
count can be set to ignore a specified number of external triggers. This
counter is reset each time the acquisition is restarted. The trigger skip functionality is not
available for
High level
and
Low level
trigger activation.
Finally, there is some internal setup delay from the programmed delay until the real
exposure starts. The trigger delay reported in the datasheet is the total delay from external
trigger assertion until start of exposure, with a programmed
Delay
of zero.
When an external trigger is generated when the detector electronics are not ready to accept
a new trigger (the trigger inhibit period), the trigger will be lost.
