The following list contains requirements for this installation:
1.
The aircraft must have an electrical system capable of supporting the electrical load
imposed by the equipment.
2.
A suitable location must exist for the receiver and satellite antenna. For installations
of an audio-enabled receiver a suitable location must also exist for the remote control
antenna.
a.
The receiver is normally installed in the existing equipment bay, but may be
installed anywhere that is consistent with industry guidance. The installation
must be structurally sound and appropriately bonded in accordance with industry
guidance.
b.
Grounding is critical to a successful installation.
c.
The satellite antenna location guidelines are found in Satellite Antenna Placement
on page 30. The satellite antenna must be installed consistent with industry
guidance. The antenna installation must be separately approved for an antenna
mounted on the pressure vessel of a pressurized airplane, composite aircraft, or
aircraft certified under Amendment 23-45 or later. A specific “other approval”
must exist. The installation must be structurally sound and in accordance with
AC 43.13-1b and 43.13-2b.
d.
The remote control antenna location guidelines can be found in Remote Control
Antenna Placement on page 28.
