Factors that will determine what feed rate you can use include:

Cant dimensions

Hardness of material to be planed/moulded. Some woods that are seasoned or naturally very
hard will require slower feed rates.

Sharpness  of  the  knives.  Dull  or  improperly  sharpened  knives  will  require  slower  feed  rates
than sharp and properly maintained knives.

If you determine the pressure marks (small spots caused by wood debris around the edge of
the knife) on the planed/moulded surface, it means that the feed rate is too high, the knives
became dull or the dust extraction system is not sufficient.
