3.4 Apply Tension
Note: Start with the tie rods in the middle
of the engine a − a, then b − b etc).
1) Put the two (or four) pre-tensioning
jacks (94180, Fig. 3 ) on the tie rods (1).
2) Apply a tension of 100 bar, refer to
9403 − 4 .
3) Use the rod (94005 − 6) to tighten the
round nuts (2).
4) Record the length of the tie rods at L.
5) Apply a pressure of 1500 bar.
6) Tighten the round nuts (2).
7) Record the extension of the tie rod (4)
at L1.
Note: The extension D L of the tie rod (1)
must be 8.5 mm (L1 − L).
8) Release the pressure in the
pre-tensioning jacks (94180).
9) Remove the pre-tensioning jacks
(94180).
10) Apply a layer of Molykote paste G to
the thread of the tie rod (1) and the
round nut (2) prevent corrosion.
11) Do step 1 ) to step 10 ) for the remaining
tie rods (1).
4. Completion
1) Attach the protection covers (2, Fig. 1 )
to the tie rods (3) with the screws (1).
