13MM DRILL PRESS                                 ENG

2) Inserting the smooth end of the drill bit into the chuck as far as it will go.
3) Ensure the drill bit is centered in the chuck jaws before tightening.
4) Use the chuck key and tighten the chuck locking the drill bit in place

(See Fig 8)

.

Note:

Lock all three jaws in the chuck, so it doesn’t slip while drilling.

5) Ensure the check key is removed from the chuck before applying power to the machine.

5. Using the ON/OFF switch

1) To save energy, only switch the machine on when using it.

2) The machine “ON/OFF” switch is located on the left of the machine head. To turn the machine on,
simply press down the green switch. To turn the machine off, press down the red switch

(See Fig 9).

Note:

Ensure there are no tools or work pieces in contact with the drill bits, cutting tools, or sanding

drum when the machine is turned on. Failure to observe these procedures could result in damage to
the machine, tools, work pieces, and/or serious personal injury to the operator or bystanders.

6. Adjusting the work table

1) The work table can be raised or lowered on the machine column by loosening the table clamp

(See

Fig 10)

.

2) After the table is positioned at the desire height, lock the table in place by tightening the table clamp.
3) The work table can be rotated 360 degrees around the column by loosening the table clamp. Rotate
the table to the desired position and lock the table in place by tightening the table clamp.

7. Tilting the work table

1) The work table can be tilted to the left or right by loosening the pivot bolt mounted beneath the work
table

(See Fig 11)

.

2) Tilt the work table to the desired position and tighten the pivot bolt.
3) When returning the table to the level position, line up the register mark on the table with the tilt scale.
4) A tilt scale is provided on the table bracket to indicate the degree of tilt.

8. Adjusting the machine spindle speed

The correct drilling speed is determined by type of material being drilled, the size of the hole, the type of
the drill bit or cutter, and the desired quality of the hole.
A spindle speed and pulley/belt arrangement chart is posted inside the pulley cover. Refer to this chart
whenever spindle speeds need to be changed.
1) Using a screwdriver, loosening the screw on the pulley cover, and lift up the pulley cover.
2) Release the belt tension by loosening the tension locking knob located on the side of the machine
head.
3) Pivot the motor towards the front of the machine.
4) While holding the motor pivoted to the front of the machine, position the belt on the desired step of
the motor pulley and the spindle pulley

(See Fig 12)

.

5) After attaining the desired spindle speed, pivot the motor to the rear of the machine and securely
tighten the tension locking knob.
6) The belt should be tight enough to prevent any slippage. If the belt is over tightened, the life of the
belt will be noticeably reduced.
7)

To gauge proper belt tension, use pressure to push down with the thumb on the belt at midway point

between the two pulleys. The belt should push down no more than 13mm (See Fig 13).
