3. Maintenance & Safety Precautions
3.1 Maintenance
1. Before cleaning the device, allow the instrument to reach room temperature
2. Remove the power cord from the mains
3. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the housing from dyes, building materials or cosmetic
materials
4. Wear protective gloves while cleaning the instrument
5. Be careful that no liquid enters the device during cleaning
6. Contact Westlab Pty Ltd before using any other methods for cleaning
3.2 Safety Precautions
To use this unit properly and safely, every user must read the user manual and observe the
instructions.
1. Place the device on a surface that is flat, stable, clean, non-slippery & fireproof.
2. Ensure that only trained staff use the device.
3. Beware of the possible effects of magnetic field on pacemakers, data media, etc.
4. Do not touch the hotplate surface when the hotplate temperature exceeds 50°C.
Pay attention to the residual heat after switching off the unit.
5. Properly lift the device with both hands while moving or installing. Also, the device
should only be moved from its position once it reaches room temperature.
6. Make sure that the power supply cord does not come into contact with the heated
mounting plate.
7. Do not place any steel or magnetic material on the top surface, except for the
recommended magnetic stirring bar with a beaker or flask in between. Otherwise,
it can affect the magnetism of the device.
8. Wear your personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with the hazardous
category of the media being processed. Otherwise, there is a risk from:
•
Release of toxic or combustible liquids
•
Splashing & evaporation of liquids
•
Ejection of parts
9. The top surface must be kept clean and intact. Wear protective gloves while cleaning
the device. Use a soft and mild cloth to clean the surface.
10. Do not use a damaged beaker, flask, stirring bar or any other component as it may
affect the efficiency of the device.
