Replacing the Cutting String and the Spool
Before undertaking this work, detach the string cutter attachment from
the motor unit!
The spool housing is attached to the drive shaft with
left hand threads
. Use
one of the included hex keys to arrest the driveshaft. Insert the key from the
side through the hole in the protective sleeve of the shaft.
To remove the spool, detach the cover of the spool housing. Press onto the
spool housing in the marked areas (PUSH TO OPEN) and lift off the cover.
Take out the spool. Be careful not to lose the spring.
The spool has two separate parts, one for each half of the string. Insert the
middle of the string into one of the slots in the separating wall. Then, wind the
string onto the spool (figure 1). The correct winding direction is indicated on
the spool. Up to 2 m of 2.5 mm string can be wound onto the spool. Tuck the
ends of the string into the slots in the base of the spool. Leave about 30 cm of
string free. The spool should now look as shown in figure 2.
