
The popularity of boating and other w ater sports
has undergone an explosion of growth in the
past few years. Because of this, safety is an
important issue for e veryone who shares our
waterways.
Your safety, the safety of your passenger s and
the safety of other boater s are among your
responsibilities as operator of this boat. Y our
boat must be in compliance with U.S. Coast
Guard safety equipment regulations. Y ou should
know how to react cor rectly to adver se weather
conditions, have good na vigation skills and fol-
low the “Rules of the Road” as defined b
y the
Coast Guard and state/county/local regulations.
Before each outing you should check all safety
equipment such as bilge pumps, fire extinguish-
ers, personal flotation de vices, flares, distress
flags, flashlights, ignition inter rupter switch, etc.
They should be operable, readily visible and
easily accessible.
Complete a float plan and tell someone of your
travel plans. Check local w eather reports before
casting off. Do not lea ve the dock area when
strong winds and electric stor ms are in the area
or predicted to be in the area. A sample float
plan is at the end of Section 1.
ADVISORY STATEMENTS
Advisor y statements fore warn conditions that
affect equipment operation, maintenance and
servicing practices, and the y have two levels:

Used to signal the possibility of
damage to equipment or associated compo-
nents.

this manual, specific precautions and symbols
identify safety related infor mation.

attention! Your safety is in volved. Not fol-
lowing the recommendations contained
in any of these statements ma y result in
proper ty damage, per sonal injury or
death.
The precautions listed in this manual are not all-
inclusive. If a procedure, method, tool or par t is
not specifically recommended, you must satisfy
yourself that it is safe for you and other
s and
that your boat will not be damaged or made
unsafe as a result of your decision. REMEMBER
