APPENDIX B: ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY (EMC)OF
WATT-INVERTERS
Similar to all modern PWM variable speed drives, WATT-Inverters use fast switching of
high voltage and current to achieve high efficiency and reduce motor noise. This results in
electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI). For
operational reasons the interference may need to be suppressed.
EC DIRECTIVES
Inverters are able to comply with the EC Directives 89/336/EEC, 92/31/EEC, 93/68/EEC
on limits to EMI and RFI with the use of optional filters. Inverters will be able to comply
with LVD : 73/23/EEC, 93/68/EEC in 1997. Independent testing has demonstrated
compliance to the following standards when the optional filters are used. The followings
