Safety timer
The safety timer starts automatically when a charging cycle beings. If the charger cannot detect whether the battery is
fully charged (e.g. with Delta-V control), the charging cycle is stopped automatically after the preset time has elapsed.
This stops the battery from overcharging.
The safety timer can be switched on or off. You can also change the preset time.
Do not select a time that is too short, otherwise the battery will not charge fully before the time has elapsed.
Calculate the time for the safety timer as follows:
Example:
Battery capacity
Charging current
Time
2000 mAh
2.0 A
2000 / 2.0 = 1000 / 11.9 = 84 minutes
3300 mAh
3.0 A
3300 / 3.0 = 1100 / 11.9 = 92 minutes
1000 mAh
1.2 A
1000 / 1.2 = 833 / 11.9 = 70 minutes
Factor 11.9 is used to ensure that the battery can be charged to 140 % capacity before the preset time
elapses (i.e. guarantee that the battery will be fully charged).
Automatic power-off at a preset capacity
This feature stops the charging process when the battery has been charged by a certain amount (capacity).
This feature can be switched on or off. You can also configure the preset capacity.
Do not select a capacity that is too low, otherwise the battery will not be fully charged.
Enabling/disabling over-temperature protection and temperature limit
The charger features a socket for a temperature sensor (not included, available separately).
When over-temperature protection is enabled ("ON"), the charger stops the charging/discharge cycle when the preset
temperature is reached.
Set the desired power-off temperature.
Disable over-temperature protection ("OFF") if no temperature sensor is connected.
