Main Menu

The Main Menu is the starting point for accessing all VDP-80-720 functions.

Source Type

Before calibrating the VDP-80-720 inputs, you must specify what type of signals are being
supplied to each of them. To do this:

1.

Select a source input using the number buttons on the remote control (see Figure 2-3).

2.

Press

Use the cursor buttons on the remote control to select the source type. Your choices are:

Input 1/Input 2:

DVI/HDMI 444 RGB

for DVI sources,

HDMI444 Component

uncompressed component video from an HDMI source or

HDMI422 Component

compressed component video from an HDMI source.

Input 3/Input 4:

for RGB/separate sync signals,

for RGB/sync on green signals or

Picture Adjust

Use the controls in the Picture Adjust menu to calibrate your VDP-80-720 for optimum
picture quality. To access this menu, press

MENU

followed by

OK

. Then, select Image Adjust

from the Source menu, select Picture Adjust and press

OK

again.

The VDP-80-720 has been designed to incorporate setup and calibration standards
established by the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF). The ISF has developed carefully crafted,
industry-recognized standards for optimal video performance and has implemented a
training program for technicians and installers to use these standards to obtain optimal
picture quality from Vidikron video display devices. Accordingly, Vidikron recommends that
setup and calibration be performed by an ISF-certified installation technician.

All signal types require separate processing. Therefore, you need to calibrate each input
separately. Vidikron recommends calibrating the VDP-80-720 inputs in the following order:

1.

HD Component (Input 3 and/or Input 4)

2.

SD Component (Input 7 and/or Input 8)

3.

S-Video/Video (Input 5, 6, 7 and/or 8)

4.

RGB (Input 3 and/or Input 4)

5.

DVI-D (Input 1 and/or 2)

6.

SDI (Input 9 and/or 10)
