Clean, Adjust or Replace the Knives
◼
Detach the PTO shaft from the
woodchipper.
◼
Remove all access cover shells (1) on
both sides of the flywheel housing.
◼
Remove any debris that is causing a
jam.
Wear heavy leather gloves and use
extreme caution when working
around the knives.
◼
Use an awl to remove any debris
impacted in the hex recess of the
flat socket cap screws, securing the
knife.
◼
Take care to clean the bolt heads
thoroughly to ensure the Allen key
bit socket fits appropriately. If not,
you may strip the heads out. Air
blow guns are also helpful.
◼
Insert a 6 mm Allen socket wrench
and a 17 mm socket wrench at the
backside to remove the four knife
bolts.
◼
Remove the knife. Be careful not to
drop the fasteners into the flywheel
chamber.
◼
Clean the knife blade recess surface
properly.
◼
Place a new knife.
◼
Mount and hand-tighten the
fasteners, including washers.
◼
Use a torque wrench attached to the
17 mm socket and apply a 40 lbs/ft
torque.
◼
DO NOT over-torque the bolts; knife
breakage can occur.
◼
Remove the lock pin, rotate the
flywheel 180 degrees, and reinstall
the lock pin for the second knife.
