Occasionally, air bubbles (foaming) will develop in the lines when
purging the hydraulic system. This is evident when the rollers do not run
smoothly immediately after purifying the system.
•
In the case of foaming, let the woodchipper sit overnight. This will allow
the bubbles to settle out of the oil.
◼
Disengage the tractor’s
power take-off, and stop the engine. When the flywheel stops turning,
recheck the oil level. There should be a 1” air space at the top of the tank. If more oil is
required, add it at this time.
◼
Check for any loose bolts and loose hose fittings at this time. Some hydraulic fittings are left
slightly open for shipping purposes.
◼
It is important to remember to adjust the speed of the infeed roller when you start working.
Start with the lowest rate first [#1] and then increase the speed incrementally until you find the
best speed for the material you are running and the hp of your tractor. Once you have found
the proper infeed speed, you should not need to adjust it again.
◼
Please remember to run the woodchipper at the proper 540 rpm PTO speed, regardless of the
size of the material you are chipping. Reduced PTO speed can cause plugging of the discharge
chute and reduce the hydraulic pump's efficiency.

The setup is now complete. You must read and understand all operating
instructions before using the chipper.
