Grease the PTO shaft
◼
After properly sizing the shaft,
locate the grease nipples on the
shaft’s universal joints and pump
several shots of high-quality grease
into the grease nipples.
N O T I CE :
•
Ensure that the grease nipples are screwed in tightly. Occasionally, dried
paint may cover the end of the fitting on the shaft.
Remove this by scraping the paint with a knife before injecting grease
into these nipples.
4.1.2
Install the PTO shaft
◼
Fit the PTO shaft between the tractor and implement. Watch the position of the shear bolt.
◼
Raise and lower the implement to find the maximum extended PTO shaft length. Check to
ensure that the PTO s
haft’s overall length does not exceed the
full recorded size.
◼
If n
eeded, set the tractor’s 3
-Point lift height to keep the PTO shaft from exceeding the
maximum allowable length.
NOTE:
Attach the one end with the
shear bolt to the woodchipper.
◼
Secure the chain to the tractor and
implement. This will prevent the
shield from spinning during
operation.
