11. Putting out of operation, discharging
If the water heater has to be put out of operation or it will not be used for a longer time it must be completely
disconnected from mains (in case of electric models) by switching-off or by means of circuit breaker.
At the points exposed to freeze in case the appliance is not going to be used for several days the water
heater must be discharged before the winter season.
Discharge the operating water – after closing the valve in cold water supply – by opening the discharge valve
of the combined system of combined safety valve and at the same time by opening all hot water valves of
the connected fitting.
It also is possible to discharge partially through the safety valve into the sink equipped with the splash head.
In this case the safety valve must be set to „Test” position.
ATTENTION: When discharging the tank hot water can be spraying.
If there is the risk of water freezing the fact that not only water in heater and hot water piping, but also in cold
water piping connected to fitting and to the appliance itself can freeze must be taken into account. Therefore
the discharge of all connections and pipes (incl. the heater circuit = the outlet) is recommended in order to
prevent the house water system from freezing.
When the hot water tank is put into operation again it is necessary to check whether it is filled with
water and water free of air is leaking out from the connections.
12. Inspection, maintenance and cleaning
1. In the phase of firing up the evaporated water should be visibly dripping from the safety valve outlet.
After the overall heating (to approx. 80 °C temperature) the evaporated water amounts to approx. 3,5 %
of the water heater nominal volume.
The safety valve functionality must be regularly inspected. Lifting or turning the safety valve testing latch
into „test” position should result in an undisturbed water drain from the safety valve body into the sink..
Attention: During this process the cold water supply and hot water parts of tank can be hot. If the tank
isn’t heated and hot water isn’t discharged water cannot be dripping from the safety valve. This situation
means that the installation pressure is higher than the admissible pressure or the safety valve is
damaged.
If the pressure in water installation is higher than the admissible pressure the valve for pressure
reduction must be used.
2. If a high calcium content is in the supplied water then once a year or at least every two years the
engineer must remove the scale and free calcium particles inside the boiler. Cleaning is carried out
through the collar. For this purpose the heater collar must be disassembled, tank must be cleaned and
new packing must be used when reassembling thy system. The screws must be „cross” tightened with
20Nm ± 5 Nm moment. Special enamelled internal tank of heater must not get in touch with scale
solvent. Don’t use the decalcification pump!
Then it is necessary to rinse out the appliance and start the heating cycle- in the same way as in case of
the first start of the appliance.
3. The proper reporting of manufacturer’s complaint is conditioned by the inspection of installed protector-
type anode and this inspection must be recorded by the engineer and must be done at least every two
years.
The internally supplied anode is a part the lifetime of which is unlimited.
Its function must be regularly inspected and the control sensor must be observed. This sensor can show
two situations:
Green colour: the system functions correctly
Red flashing light: error, contact the service!
The correct function is conditioned by filling the tank with water.
4. Don’t use grinding or diluents when cleaning (e.g. nitro trichlorethylene etc.). Cleaning by using a damp
clout by adding several drops of a common detergent is recommended.
5. The heat exchanger together with uncoated pipes must be thoroughly rinsed out before the first use (the
installation of a flirt against impurities is also recommended).
If the heat exchanger with uncoated pipes is not being used when operating the water heater (e.g. when
using the electric heating) it must be completely filled with the necessary mixture of glycol in order to
prevent corrosion that can be caused by the condensation water.
Heat exchanger with uncoated pipes after its filling cannot be closed at both ends
(with regard to expansion pressure caused by increasing temperature).
6. Water heater can only be operated in accordance with conditions indicated on the specific label.
Independently of local legal regulations and standards it is necessary to observe also the requirements
regarding the connection of certain local electricity and water management companies and the notes in
Service and installation manual.
