Chapter 2, Configuring Storage Devices

Adding Drives

See “Media Manager Media Types” on page 251 for more information.

To specify the drive type

Click the arrow and select from the list of the drive types that Media Manager
supports.

Device Name

Device Name applies only to drives on NetBackup Windows servers.

To specify the device name

Find the device name for the drive from the appropriate Windows application.

Enter the name of the drive in the box as it is recognized by the Windows server.

To select from the drives that are currently attached to the Windows server

Click Browse ...

Select a drive.

No Rewind Device

No Rewind Device applies only to drives on NetBackup UNIX servers.

Although both no rewind and rewind device files are usually available, Media Manager
requires only the no rewind on close device file.

Device files are located in the

/dev

directory on the UNIX host. If the device files do not

exist, create them as explained in the NetBackup Media Manager device configuration
guide.

A no rewind device remains at its current position on a close operation. Usually the device
file name is preceded or followed by the letter

If you are using NDMP drives, see the NetBackup for NDMP system administrator’s
guide for configuration information.
