6.1.2. Cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning
is understood to be the action and effect of
removing any dirt, dust and/or contamination deposited
on the surface to be cleaned as it is detrimental and causes
deterioration.
Maintenance
is understood as the series of actions or
activities to be undertaken in order to ensure that any unit
or machine continues to perform the desired functions.
Cleaning external painted surfaces
Eliminate accumulations of pollutants deposited on
exposed areas of the equipment:
• Remove any excess surface dust, earth and pollutants
in the most convenient way, using non-aggressive
methods. A vacuum cleaner can be used to perform this
operation.
• Avoid rubbing solid sediments on painted surfaces to
prevent scratching. For this purpose it may be necessary
to remove larger solid particles by hand, and the rest
with a soft brush and/or a vacuum cleaner.
• Wipe the surface with a damp cloth, using clean water.
Free of salts and/or chemical products.
• Finally, dry the surface with a cloth or paper towel,
leaving no threads or pieces.
In no case during the surface cleaning operations
should liquids be directly poured on the surfaces.
Liquids must always be applied with a suitable cloth.
Clean the surfaces with suitable liquids and tools:
• Clean water.
• Use a cloth that does not leave threads. Soft brushes
designed specifically for cleaning painted surfaces can
be used.
•
Do not
use cleaners containing chlorides, hydrochloric
acid and/or bleach.
•
Do not
use cloths that are dirty and/or contaminated
with solvents.
•
Do not
use steel scouring pads or wire brushes, hard
scrapers or knives that can scratch and/or damage the
painted surface.
